Advertising: It's the Good Life

How do you celebrate the 60th anniversary of Madison Advertising Federation's 2007 ADDY Adwards show? If you're Ric Genthe, the show's creative directory and designer, you do everything in a 1947 look and feel.

And that means everything.

Tilt Media volunteered to produce the show and shoot five vignettes in the style of a 1940s screwball comedy, woven throughout the night.

The ADDY Awards show is in a league of its own. The sheer number of winning entrieds and the level of detail that is required make it a daunting project, even for a vereran. Anyone who has worked on it understands this ... it's kind of relentless.

The highlight was directing the live show. Tony Woods, who also performed in the vignettes, was our emcee in costume. Kristina Stadler was our live on-stage announcer. From lighting to talent cues to audio and video rolls, not to mention a nearly 300-slide PowerPoint presentation, there was plenty to keep us busy.

Collaborating with Ric and all the other people involved with the show created an experience we won't soon forget. We hope that goes the same for the nearly 400 guests who attended this special anniversary show.
